Skill for early leveling?

Coming back after a long break and I�ve got a question for you. Since you can now redistribute your skills points later on I was wondering what you consider to be the best way to level up early in the game? The phase before you can start joining baal runs etc. Can�t really give D2 all that much time so I�ve got to try to be a tad more efficient.

My first thought was getting a strong fireball but it has been long since the last time I played.

I agree that fire is the best way to go early on. I'd pump points into fire bolt and fireball like crazy.

Leaf will probably have the most impact in normal and perhaps into nightmare. Another thing I like to do is find or buy a fairly low strength requirement armor with 3 sockets and a helmet with two sockets and fill them up with rubies. Having the extra hit points comes in very handy until you can wear the better mid level gear that become available around level 28 and 29 (SOJ, Vipermagi, Frostburn, Peasant's crown, String of Ears).

While you're waiting to get to the level required to use Leaf (lvl 19) and the mid level gear, the hellforge hammer is an excellent early game weapon that has no requirements at all. You might even come across a very nice high defense ethereal armor with no requirements for your mercenary.

Some nice early game gear to look for...

Hotspur (lvl 5)

Lenymo (lvl 7)

Bloodfist (lvl 9)

The Eye of Etlich (lvl 15)

Tarnhelm (lvl 15)

Manald Heal (lvl 15)

Welcome back, and have fun.|||I found a nice +3 charged bolt 3+ warmth orb and it prompted me to make a charged boltress and it worked wonders.

Was very fun to play too.

Str enough for items (will probably mean some investment for frost burns etc)

No dex really needed

Vita most of your points but not all most levels i went 3 points

Energy do put some points in energy as you will SPAM charged bolt. most levels 2 points.

When you hit lv 30 your killing power will jump significantly.

Its fun to cast and going lightning you get teleport.

i'd say try it
