Would it be good to go for a CL Sorceress after reset, or is it better to make some Blizzard Sorceress?|||you can run keys with a pure light sorc, it is a fast and consistent way to get some runes, you will just need a natures peace for nila. you can also moat trick mephisto, you can run pits if you skip archers, besides act5 monsters like shenk.
Only problem is that you need + skills to make it really effective and you wont have torches, shako, occy, tals and etc.. in the begging. Make a blizz sorc or meteorb and change it to light when you have the proper gear. With respec everything got a lot easier.|||Quote:

What runs/boss killings would be the most beneficial and/or efficient for a Blizz Sorc? I'm not into going really rich but having some edge in after-reset trade business would be pretty cool, especially getting some items for Light Sorc after respec.|||Cold Sorc staples are Ancient Tunnels and Meph, with Meph being the main one for early-ladder MFing.|||you will need meph and andy to get your hands in stuff like occy, lidless, shako, vipermagi, magefist and some boots.
I think a efficient light sorc should have at least +10skills and some decent resists, besides a good merc. For a light sorc you will need a insight merc in the beginning, they use a LOT of mana, unless you get a build with energy shield and go full energy, in that case you will have to get a main skill with a few synergies, like orb, nova, charged bolt or stuff like that, only thing is that they kinda suck for bosses runing with poor gear.
After some days there will be a lot of bots running baal and chaos and it will be pretty easy to get your hands in some essences and respec your char.|||Quote:

A pure light sorc is not a good starter build IMO for a couple reasons:
1. Without semi-good gear, you will not do enough damage to quickly mf act bosses. You will be limited to mainly key runs and andy/meph if you want to hold right click down for two minutes straight while you deal mediocre light damage.
2. Lightning is a mana hog, and for the amount of casting you will be doing you will need to pot constantly.
Although there are generally less light immunes than there are cold immunes, I'd still take a blizzard sorc over light with noob gear any day. Even with bad gear blizzard deals plenty of damage to quickly take care of act bosses and any non cold immune enemies.|||Quote:

That sums it up - especially with respecs available now. Without good gear, you're much better off with Pure Blizzard or a two elemental variant.|||I disagree. Pure lightning sorceress is decent as a starting character. I used one when I restarted in single player.
Mana isn't a problem thanks to insight(Act1 Nightmare), helms/armors stuffed with saphires and weapons/shields stuffed with Tirs(earlier).
Mephisto dies fast to Charged Bolt if you use Lower Resist charges on him first.
The only real downsides are:
-one has to learn how to position for bolts to do good damage
-one has to be focused because of being close to meph
-lack of lvl 85 area with no lightning immunes.|||If you plan on using charged bolt vs meph you will need to be face to face with him in order to deal maximum damage.
That means both you and your merc are going to get pummeled by him because you are within hitting range, and chances are neither of you are able to take that beating for very long. I assume resists and overall life (you are a sorc after all) are going to be mediocre at best untill you find some half decent gear.|||Yeah FWIW, especially with copious free respecs for new chars, pure light before Hell just doesnt make sense. Cold/fire can do the same thing, but much easier and safer. Plus you're going to be entirely dependent on your merc, who also wont have great defense/resists/damage+leech to keep himself alive...there'll be many a trip back to town to rez him as you level up.
