This is my gear:
-Tal rasha mask
-Rising sun amu (also have +2cold amu and can get a lightning or Highlords or something)
-Vipermagi
-Spirit
-Occu
-Magefist/chance
-Goldwrap/Tal rasha belt
-Rare boots with 17%mf some ress.
-Raven frost and 10% fcr rings (havnt got any nagels yet)
I wanna do keyruns/andy/meph and so on.
my merc uses Tal head, non eth duriel and Bonehew with p skulls in
Have alot of items to trade for so can replace the fire amu and so on if needed. No rich stuff tho =) Thanks in advance|||To do keyruns and especially Nihlathak you need: fcr, fhr, damage reduced by x and nature's peace or the lawbringer runeword.
- Head: Lore runeword or rare circlet. Tarnhelm works, too.
- Amulet: Anything with +skills you can get.
- Body: Vipermagi is just fine. Smoke is great, too.
- Weapon/Shield: If that spirit is a monarch, get a spirit weapon, too. Spirit > occulus.
- Belt: Goldwrap.
- Gloves: Chances are quite cheap. Magefists if you need the fcr.
- Rings: fcr rings to reach the next break point. Mf blue rings until you get nagels.
Is that bonehew working for your merc? You should consider the insight runeword, too, for faster runs.
Blizzard is the way to go in my opinion, it's pretty safe as a fire-and-forget spell and with cold mastery the damage is great. However you will encounter cold immune creatures, mainly countess (always fire & cold immune), pindleskin and sometimes (or a lot of them, to the point of annoyance) Nihlathak. Your merc should be able to deal with them though.
With lightning you will encounter a lot less immunities, but the damage is a lot weaker at mid levels.|||Quote:

Thanks great response! ill try it out on single player now. One question, why Lore? =)|||Quote:

+1 skills and damage reduced by 7, for a pretty low price.|||Blizzard requires too hefty of a cost investment, unless you're only running Mephisto. You'll be limited to farming little else due to immunities.
I'd argue that Frozen Orb / Chain Lightning is the best overall farming build at low to mid gear levels, and Frozen Orb / Meteor works well for most stuff too. Frozen Orb is a very potent spell at only the cost of 40 skill points, and is easy to use, which is a bonus when you're doing a lot of dodging due to shoddy gear. Meteor is also quite potent at only 40 points; even though it benefits a lot from its synergies, it's still powerful without them. Chain Lightning at only a 40 point investment will be mediocre, but it gets the job done, so long as you're playing by yourself. Cold and Light immunity is one of the rarer combinations.|||Quote:

So I tried blizz build with my gear on single player but not before i tried a pure Lightning build and a Tri specc(Doh with low +skills :b). Conclusion: I must be doing something wrong or lightning just flat out sucks. Lightning got to job done at nith, countess, summoner and andy. But when it comes to meph with a little more Health, It took looong time and were not possible without the moat trick. Then i tryed Blizz, omg.. Meph went down in less then 5 seks, Nith: hah, countess was hard sence immunity and summoner simple.
So, sence i do not expect to do any mf in the pits any time soon. My choice is betwen Meph or countess Blizz/Lightning, Blizz beats it any day =)
Btw if I made a orb/cl my dmg output with cl would be maybe 1-2 k, thanks for ur response tho, sorry Im just not a fan of lightning or hybrid sorcs, not middle class gear that is. Prove me wrong please.
Question: 1: all vita or max block (that is if i find a shield with good block, sigon?)
2: ES?
3:I die very easy even with blizz build, more ress and DR but sacrifice +skills?|||Quote:

Absolutely. The blizz haters are some of the most self deceiving people ive ever seen. About meph - the 75 all res he has makes conviction or cold mastery a necessary for fast elemental kills.
To no tdie - it is stormshield max block, merc holy freeze and reapers. With this setup, you can even EASILY do countess with a blizz sorc - just tele on top of the countess and merc will kill him, and it is safe too -- with the slowing and block

blizz - meph, andy, pindle, ancient tunnels - all very easy to do. Or with a decent merc you can add countess, shenk, eldritch (nihl a bit hard though). And with blizz - everything actually dies almost instantly so you dont need to dodge stuff unlike hybrids. Make no mistake, blizz is the strongest anti-group skill the sorceress has, from poor-mans to highest end, nothing comes close to it(though light is good at high lvls and less immune probs)|||Quote:

Thanks for great response and info, what would a stormshield go for at ladder these days?|||Quote:

I'd say vita is best. Not that there's anything wrong with blocking, far from that. But with vita you get spirit monarch, which is extremely cheap for the abilities it provides: +2 skills, 55 fhr (!), huge resistances, +life, +mana, magic absorb... the list is endless. You won't believe how much better teleporting is with a ~+100 bonus to it, especially when you don't have insight.
I'm currently using a blizzard/firewall combination, explained here. I rarely die, especially when I'm blink-teleporting, except when I'm running Nihlathak (if you teleport in a pack of tomb vipers, you're hosed, except if you have really honed save & exit skills - I don't) and Mephisto dolls are sometimes a problem, but they are easily dodged with high fhr (I currently have 142 - double spirit, smoke and a 12% fhr grand charm) and rejuvenation potions on your belt. Also my damage is a little better now, since I've gained some levels and got another blizzard synergy up, along with 27 total cold mastery.
As far as tri-elemental builds go, I've made this build in the past. The damage is not great, but you can kill everything. I'm assuming full Tal Set, spirit monarch, torch and no skillers (which should probably pump lightning). Tal set will up cold damage by 15% if I remember correctly.
