Dragonfire Enchantress or Dreamer Enchantress

Hello everyone.

Although I am not new to this forum, I only have a couple of posts. The guides here are the most extensive, and this is probably THE ultimate resource on all topics related to D2, and hopefully D3 one day

Now to get down on business. I played a LOT of cookie cutter builds, in all classes, in all patches. I played on ladder and single player. But some builds I never tried, cos either they didn't appeal to me or cos of my ignorance. Things changed recently, and although I play only single player games, I like to experiment and try out some more challenging and unorthodox builds.

Now, I want to give you some background to avoid some unpleasant accusations.

1. I ONLY play single player.

2. To get the items any build needs in single player, I have to resort to using save game editors.

3. I still play 1.11b

4. From former statements one can conclude I am only interested in PvM.

Recently I finished playing Earth Shifter druid and modified PvM Ghostsin, both in single player.

Now, Although my first and most favorite char was Sorc (cold), I soon left her behind. Now I want to return to my all time favorite class, but I want to try something different than FCR Light or Frost caster Sorc.

I wanna try a melee oriented Enchantress sorc.

Now to explain the topic name. Dreamer Enchantress is a well known build, so I am not gonna explain it in detail. Basically Warmth, Enchant, Fire Mastery, Lightning Mastery, prerequisites, Teleport and maybe some in Energy Shield and Telekinesis. Two dream runewords, coupled with either Kingslayer (Vengeance) or Passion (Zeal/Berserk).

Now, Dragonfire Enchantress would use two Dragon runewords and Hand of Justice to get lvl 44 Holy Fire. I know This would heavily gimp the build cos she would loose Zeal/Vengeance/Berserk granted by other two weapons. So, that is basically my 1st question:

Is there any way to make that build viable?

I am aware that focusing on single element is risky (Fire Immunes), but it has a great flavor IMO, and this is only for fun single player game.

2nd question is: In your opinion, High ES+Energy dump, or Low ES and vitality dump? Mana burn is the thing I am afraid of, since I might make this a hardcore game.

Now, sorry for this wall of text, and thank you in advance for any help.|||Hello fellow Disciples 2 fan! Just wanted to say that, since I LOVE that game.

As for your build, I really don't know if she would be viable. Her killing speed would be questionable, which in turn also means that your ability to survive would also be questionable - not really desirable if you make it a HC game. The point of zeal is not only to kill fast and dish out that elemental damage as fast as possible, but also to keep monsters partially stuck in recovery animation, making them unable to attack you. Not to mention that zeal + dracul's grasp can make you almost invincible if you build your sorceress properly.

My advice if you want to go for high fire damage: Max fire mastery and warmth, and enchant |||L44 Holy Fire only adds about 550 fire damage to your attack, and the tick damage is likewise negligible. HF<HS and FM<LM. Like Soulless said, you're probably better off just sticking with pure Enchant and pumping +skills, especially since that lets you use Passion to apply hits much much faster. The whole point of Dreamers is that LM gives an insane bonus to an already decent base +lightning damage, and then lets you apply it at a crazy attack rate.

As for your point 2., there is a SP trade forum here where you can acquire items without using an editor....but since you've already admitted to using trainers, I'm not sure if there's a way you can "cleanse" yourself enough to be allowed to trade there |||First of all, thank you for responses. I ran down some numbers and got to the same conclusion about HS and HF. Although flavor-wise it certainly seems more fun, it cannot compete with sheer power LM and Zeal give.

Now another explanation. Although I do use editor to import items to my save game, all those items I found myself on other characters and exported them. I am not planning to join any multiplayer or community game. Between my job and my family, I barely have time to play D2 at all (damn checkpoint save system). So, this is only my way to kill some time and relax. Again, during my days on ladder, I NEVER used any trainers/hax/mods. I did, however, had a crazy friend who played 12hrs a day, and by the time I got to 75+ he would be able to supply me with most equipment after each reset.

Now, I guess, the only thing to think about is whether to go ES or not.|||You should look at ATMA - its a tool for SP that, among other things, lets you mule items between your SP chars, and is considered legit |||Thought I would throw my .02 in here.

How about a mix? of HF and HS, much like an auradin.

Dream Circle

Dragon Plate

Phoenix Shield (life, -fire resist)

Your choice of sword: Crescent moon (slow, -Light resist) Passion or Kingslayer.

The issue beign AR. With -resists on your side (using Crescent Moon and Phoenix) + and Infinity mercenary, you're going to be smashing some nice damage, and most like 1-hit anything you come across that has a breakable immunity. Phoenix should keep you well healed, and having 3 auras + the BO and BC going gives you a 10 on the coolness scale.

If you want the IAS, and have something to take down quick, Beast into a bear and slap on a Shaled Phase blade. Thats fun too!

I've actually been contemplating this build, but make a Jedi.

Forget about more than 1 point into firemastery, and drop any ES ideas. Work some points into a lightning spell, and allow the +skills from skillers and equipment give you decent damage. Then slice and dice with your lightsabre-ish sword, and shock 'em with your force lightning |||I went ahead and wrote up my Dreaming Redeemer Enchantress variant and posted it in its own thread, so I've removed the wall of text I posted here about her. Sorry--I should have done that right off instead of raiding this thread.
