Almost forgot this character will be played single player untwinked.|||Your going to have to play a close quartered fighting style and your going to die alot likely. Using nova and firewall makes it even more complex.
Could work with good gear, but it's a very unsafe choice.|||I've seen Nova/Fireball and Nova/Firewall quite a bit, but those builds were all definitely twinked.
I'd think that on a lower /p-setting, you could actually get by with Meteova (just made that name up) build. That should give you a decent AoE attack (Meteor), a strong spammable (Fireball), and a strong low /p-setting FI killer (Nova). Using a Crescent Moon as a Nova-switch might be a good idea for FI-heavy areas (presuming you decide to do some MFing with the character, instead of just single-pass).
Meteova
20 fireball
20 meteor
6 firebolt (try to find the correct placement between bolt/FM for damage)
6 FM
1 warmth
3 pre-reqs
1 static, tk, tele
20 nova
20 LM
Total: 99 (done at level 88)
Another idea that might work is a Chainwaller or Ball-and-Chain. The chainwaller will benefit from a stronger lightning tree and have a stronger boss killer (if not going with Meteor on the ball-and-chain), but will suffer against quicker moving LIs if you don't have a strong merc and/or aren't good at aiming FW. The Ball-and-Chain should be more balanced but the lightning damage will take a pretty big hit.
Either way, I'd strongly suggest trying to work in a Crescent Moon. Um isn't really too hard to find anymore, and without Infinity it's going to make a very noticeable difference to your damage. I'd also suggest carrying around a LR wand on switch.
Chainwaller
20 firewall
1 FM
1* warmth
2 pre-reqs
1 static, tk, tele
20 lightning
20 chain-lightning
20 LM
12* charged bolt
* you can choose either one (CB = more lightning damage; warmth = more FW damage)
Total: 99 (done at 88)
Ball-and-Chain
20 fireball
20 firebolt (or meteor)
1 warmth
1 FM
0/4 pre-reqs (without/with meteor)
1 static, tk, tele
20 lightning
20 chain lightning
9/13 LM (without/with meteor)
Total: 99 (done at 88)
Please also note that this is entirely theorycrafting on my part. I have no practical experience in any of these builds. I'm just throwing out there what I might do if given the same circumstance. I would re-run bosses to gain some basic gear (Vipermagi, Magefists, etc) but if you are going single-pass, tactics/advice would have to change accordingly.|||Haven't decided single pass or not. Just type of player that despises over used setups.
I was thinking maybe try ChargeBolt/Firewall, though may switch to Lightning and Chain Lightning. Either way I'll be putting at least five into CB.
CB 5 - 20
Static Field 1
Telekinesis 1
Lightning 20
Chain Lightning 0 - 20
Teleport 1
Lightning Mastery 20
Warmth 1+
Inferno 1
Blaze 1
Firewall 20
Fire Mastery 1+
Go CB done around lvl 80, CL around lvl 85. Either way build finishes in Act 5 Hell.|||nova chant is an option maybe? it focusses completely on CQC (close quarters combat) but can be a very effective bosskiller... slap on a passion and your set to go tbh...
edit: i mean for both skills you need to be in melee range anyways... why not be a nice party buffer
15-20 warmth
20 chant
20 fm
20 nova
20 lightning
1 telekin
1 teleport
1 static
you can optionally tweak the last 5 points of warmth into other support skills (like frozen or maybe even chilling armor). Only thing is you need to find a balance between melee and caster gear and +skills is your friend in this matter

(and if you are really really really filthy rich you can go for hand of justice + dragon + dual dream hehe)|||Dragon/HoJ is garbage for a sorc. Holy Fire is just too weak. The paladin's HF synergy is far superior to the Sorc's fire mastery for the skill.|||Quote:

I've got a feeling being SP untwinked dismisses these possibilities. You can go with Enchant untwinked, it's just gonna be painful and scary, imho.
As for the build proposed by the OP, I like it. If you would prefer Lightning instead of CL, going CB definitely makes sense. You're giving some ground to AoE, but Lightning in a straight line could be nice anyway. If that's your idea, I say run with it.
