Just for reference, an Act 2 Might merc (NM Offensive) has 195 STR at level 90 according to the "Ultimate Merc Guide." With a +27 STR or better Andariel's Visage helm, he could wear it at level 90. If the wep your merc uses has +STR too, then you could use it a bit earlier. Personally, I think the STR req is too high; the Defense is great but, high Defense isn't all it's made out to be. I'd rather be able to use the Fort earlier. By the time I hit 90, I'm thinking about my next build.|||Ebugging still available in 1.13? It works the same like socketing an eth armor with cube recipe and then getting its defence doubled?|||Yes, it is still available, although it adds the 50% again on top of the 50% it got for being ethereal, so I believe it is actually 2.25 times the defense of the original base. So E-bugged Sacred Armor ranges from 1096-1350 I believe.
You are above middle of the road, but it depends on how easy it is to get a Lo. Personally I can't afford a Lo easily, so my intention is to put "Stone" in my Merc's armor instead. If I had a 1300+ or that armor with a slightly lower str requirement, I might even put fort in it. Also depends if you are going to use a Defiance merc or Holy Freeze. With Defiance you will notice that missing 100 base def, with other auras you probably wont.|||1239 def is very high, that's definately worth making a fort out of.
although if you don't want your merc to be chained to a +str helmet you could sell that one and find a lower str req armor.|||You would at lease 1k Def to make a Merc Fort.
The sacred armor is good only for high level mercs as mentioned above. I think you should sell it and get a different ebugged armor. Honestly, you won't notice much of a difference between 500-700 def.|||I just made one for my sorceress's Mercenary. He's level 87 (due to running cows, he's same level as the sorceress) and with Andy's Visage and en Eth CV Infinity (Took forever to find the runes for that sucker...) he's only a few Str points short. If I socket a Fal into Andy's he'll be able to wear it, but I'll just level him to 88 and he should be good. Also, My NL Hammerdin Merc wears an Ebugged Sacred Fort, and IIRC he's only level 87 too, Probably a better Andy's on him (and he uses insight, giving +5 all attributes)
If you run private games, levelling your mercenary to ~88 shouldn't be bad, and depending on your other gear, he should be able to wear by then.

Got a lucky find on NL and found a Perfect 900 Def Eth Sacred, bugged to 1350 Def. Made a 'Stone' in it, and have yet to stockpile enough runes to reroll 'till perfect, but its cool have 4k Defence on an armor. I think perfect can get 5265 Defense. Pretty fancy
