Orb/Nova sorc?

[:1]Hi all,

is it possible to create Frozen Orb/Nova sorc? I searched forums, but didn't find useful info. Maybe there are some sorc pro players who can give an advice for me?

I think build should look like: 20 orb, 20 cold mastery, 20 icebolt/energy shield, 20 nova, 20 litghting master.

Stats: str - for items and rest to vitality (using 20 energy shield build - rest to energy).

Possible? |||It's not a cookie cutter combination without flaws of course, but if you wish to make one of course you can. I'd suggest that you read the blova guide, and also a lightning/orb guide. When you know how to make those two builds it shouldn't be hard to guess how to make a successful nova/orb sorceress.|||A not a lot of people use it much anymore since older patch versions, so of course we had a discussion a few posts back on this thread:

http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=806935

Most people now use one of the two guides posted by Kijya, or an orbitaller, which is a combination of frozen orb and Fire ball which is also pretty effective. Me personally though I have a frozen orber which uses nova and I think its a more of a "in the action" build than the standard lightning variation.

If you do decide to do the orb/nova you most likely will not need to max cold mastery as your plus skills should carry you pretty well, some people shoot for level 17 with plus skills as that is -100 cold res, some people go for more such as level 32 for -175 cold res, the amount of skills in this is debatable. Also the 2% damage boost from ice bolt, even though it is nice, is not as good as most other synergies and some people lower the amount of points in this skill as well. Doing this should free up some extra points if you do decide to invest more in tk/es.|||don't know how accurate this is

http://diablo2.ingame.de/spiel/skill...,0,0,0,0,0,0,0|||I've built several in HC.

My skills generally were maxed Orb, Cold Mastery, Nova, Lightning Mastery. One in Warmth, the second cold armour and Teleport. The rest went into Static for increased radius.

Equipment is pretty flexible but I liked hitting the 105 fcr BP and having max block with Stormshield (eld).|||Another side note, if you have an infinity on merc, you definitely should not max cold mastery. lvl 19 cold mastery is enough, infinity will bring down 95 cold resist monster to 10, and then lvl 19 cold mastery will bring down monster's resist to -100, which is the lower cap for resist. Any more high level of cold mastery is a waste. Orb's range is short, once the orb is in range, conviction is also in range.

These are all because infinity can not break most cold immunes anyway, you should not consider cold immunes.

When I was using full tal set, I did not even put one hard point into cold mastery. Because the orb gives 2 points into cold mastery, and plus skills from other items and charms gives me level 21 cold mastery, which is sufficient enough. And then I can invest additional 20 skill points to another skill tree, which gives my orb/light sorc much faster killing speed in chaos and throne.|||Thanks for advices! You guys really helped. Awesome.

I changed my mind in few things. Now I'll try to create a monster...

P.S. Pyrotechnician - do you know how stats should look like in orbitaller (by Socialism) build? Or someone else maybe know?|||Just finished one in HC!

Mat around lvl80

I havent finished (lvl82) it but def a fun built, let's face it this is no cookie cutter when you re not rich (= no infinity or limited+skills).

the key is orb should be your main killer so pump the cold mastery to at least -100 (lvl17) if possible.

Another key : your nova is quite weak , for me was around 900-1150, so the only way to kill everything fast was to pump up Static field as mentionned in one of the post above.

your typical sequence will be :

one orb to slow things

static until things are 50% life

then nova / orb to finish off the rest

Surprisingly this Mat was pretty resistant even in HC.

I didn't try to achieve max block but reach the 50% with my equipment.

Leoninuk|||Yeap... Very "cheap" gear I'll try with full Tal :P|||Let me just say first off that full tal should definately serve its purpose pretty well as its a decent set and moving up from that usually becomes very expensive, its also great for magic find.

Anyway in terms of stat point placement almost all sorcs are the same:

Strength - enough to use your gear,

dex (None, unless your going for max block, then it can be a decent number, not recommended with a spirit monarch)

Vitality (rest)

Energy (None, unless your going to work energy shield into your build, in which case the points in vitality should go here, but you probably won't have enough available skills to invest in this)
