Thanks!|||well if u use blizz and meteor u'll have to stand around, cause meteo=requires some time to land, and between meteor and blizz there's some time, where you can't cast any spells.
u can try frozen orb/fireball or blizz/fireball..idk, i still dont have much experience with Sorc, and soon i'm going to try cold/lighting mix|||Last season my favorite (pre infinity) was blizballer with tal set with 0 points in masteries. I ran alot of CS.
This season i do alot of key runs and countess. My favorite for that is blova (blizzard/nova). I even are pondering if i should respecc my full light sorc atm to a blova. Because it will speed up the trav runs alot.|||okay well i definitely want to use fireball as my main skill, paired up with a frost spell for support. Would Blizzard or frozen orbs be more effective for this? Does meteor increase the damage of fireball? if it does would it be better to put points in this for the synergies or to use those points in fire mastery / cold mastery?
thanks!|||Quote:

You have a bunch of questions here, so I'll answer in order. I tend to find frozen orb to be more effective than blizzard, especially if you have a limited number of skill points to spend on it. If you are going for fireball as your main, you almost certainly want to go orb over blizzard because of how intensive fireball is on skill points.
Meteor does increase the damage of fireball.
There is a fine split between meteor and fire mastery. At a certain point one is more beneficial than the other to fireball, but I don't recall what that point is.
As far as builds, I'm having a lot of fun with a nova/fireball sorc. Anything not fire immune gets burned to the ground, while nova is wicked on things that are fire immune (especially paired with infinity). It is sort of challenging early to get the hang of swapping between spells, and the build is very item intensive, but I like it a lot.|||What about a bow enchantress / frozen orb build?

Your specific desire I can't help much with, sorry.|||best sorc to play is a light sorc no question. as long as you can get an infinity you are going to destroy 8player hell games with ease. just static + light/cl.
untweaked a blizzard sorc works wonders. you can get 3-4k blizzards practically playing naked and that itself packs a punch (8k after mastery). cold immunes are a problem but there are certain areas and bosses where there is no cold immunes.
in a multielement sorc frozen orb is practically a must have. 20 hard points for almost a fully powered attack (only one 2% synergy). yes please. usually FO would be combined with fireball/meteor or lightning/cl. but this kind of sorc is normally weaker in damage but more versatile.
i typically start with a blizzer of all if you want my opinion. nowadays it's even easier as you can simply restat to light once you got some gear and infy/|||Quote:

You definitely do not have to stand still to cast either Meteor or Blizzard, although it certainly helps to have something (aka a merc) to keep the baddies in place while you do. A good sorc player will be able to anticipate movement and place the Meteor in such a way that it will hit even if the target is moving. I sometimes I have to do this when farming Hell Andy if she is protected by a lot of fire immunes. It takes practice but is certainly doable. (I admit playing World of Warcraft helps as I often must place Wild Mushrooms ahead of my targets due to the cooldown before I can detonate them, thus giving me a lot of practice.)
If you plan around a Meteor build, do not get Blizzard because as SaSe said, they share cooldowns. Also, Blizzard requires so many synergies to be useful it is not worth investing into it if you plan meteor, since meteor also requires a lot of synergies to work with minimum 60 hard points invested into fireball, meteor and fire mastery respectively. You'll end up with two relatively weak unsynergized spells because you will not have enough points to invest in the basic synergies to make the build viable. If you want to go cold/fire, the meteorb build is more common and easier to do (you'll be surprised at how little effort Frozen Orb requires from your part to kill).
Anyway, so far my personal favorite hybrid build is litorb (aka frozen orb + lightning/chain lightning), because this combination got the fewest immunities in Hell, deals the same amount of damage as meteorb but allows for slightly more flexibility (i.e. you can cast lightning/chain lightning while frozen orb'ing).
It is also possible to do a blizznova build (blizzard + nova), but as discussed in other threads, it requires pretty decent gear to be viable. Actually, I guess I should make a blizznova sorc at some point, it is one of few I haven't tried.
Lastly of course, you can go single tree. My current sorc is pure fire and man, Hell Andy has never been easier to kill. She dies faster than two meteor casts if I also cast fireball. My gear is decent but certainly not fabulous, mostly aimed towards mf.
So it highly depends on what you want to do - mf (then pure blizzard/fire/meteorb is better), trying it for the first time (litorb/meteorb both work untwinked) or just be able to kill fast (single target tree preferred). Take a pick. Enchantress/dreamer are also alternatives for those who want to do something different.

Basic skill distribution for meteorb would look something like this. Remaining points would be spent into masteries.|||i would definately go with a fireball or light sorc with 200 FCR... once that breakpoint is met, it gets really fun
