Light Orb build?

I got bored and started making a sorceress with the intent of using Orb as one of my main killing skills. I had a halfway decent orber a good while ago and loved it. I also end up running countess for some strange reason. I don't know why, I'm just constantly drawn to the countess runs.

Now, last ladder I had a light sorcie and she was pretty fun, but couldn't run Hell countess that well (Count's minions are light immune on Hell). Now, I did look at a Meteorb or something along those lines, but Countess is Cold and Fire immune in hell. So, I ended up with NM countess runs, and would occasionally toss in someone else while I was there.

What I'm thinking is a Lightning/Orb combo. Orb for the minions while Count is casting her firewalls, then lightning for countess when she is done.

Has anyone ever tried something like this yet? I'm thinking she might be fairly good at other MF spots as well. Fire Immunes are everywhere, and poison imm. are scarse, but I won't be worried about either of those. occasional light immunes on the way to bosses, but there is Orb for them. Then Mostly Cold immunes in A5, but lightning should work good enough. Personally, I have seen few (if any) Cold + Light immunes.

Understandable, countess rune drops are rather rewarding after all. However I'm not sure I'd use an orber for it, at least some kind of lightning spell should imo be included if you're mainly looking to run countess.

Something is amiss here, countess minnions are cold immune, and she herself is cold+fire immune. The only lightning immunes in the tower are archers, and those don't always spawn near countess. Archer packs can usually just be teleported past, making a pure lightning sorc one of the best countess runners possible.

With a good merc to take care of countess herself, using a meteorb in hell isn't that much of a problem. Insight in an elite polearm should do just fine damage wise to handle her.

Again, lightning for both, just orb the archers if any are present. And yes, orb/lightning works well for countess.

Yes many have, there's a guide in the sticky for mentioned build that surely has some discussion worth reading. Not sure I'd consider her a good mf-spot, the act bosses are far better for that. |||Quote:

Ok, and if nothing else, untill I get an Insight, any big enough hurty stick with some of my lightning should work fine.

Seems I read your post wrong and gave a confusing answer as a result.

What I meant to say was that yes, many have made orb/lightning sorceresses. In fact, I'd say it's a fairly common build, and there's a guide (here) that may be worth a read. I'm sure the discussion you can find in that thread will be of use in determining what other good mf spots you can use her for.

I don't consider countess a good "mf spot" as such, she's only really good for runes/keys, and I wished to include this opinion of mine. I read your post as if you where saying "countess and other good mf spots" rather then "countess and other good mf spots". I hope the difference is visible in my writing. |||alright, I'll give that guide a look.

hhmmm... maybe. Not sure about killing speed, but it sounds plausible. According to arreat, Mephy is at 75 all resists on Hell, and you can achieve a -75 cold resist with 12 points into cold mast, so even just there would bring him down to zero cold res. Extras into cold mast and/or an Infinity merc would help even more. I think my Orb is currently doing somewhere near 300 damage. I can get full stats later, but she is only lvl 70 and less than ideal gear-wise.|||I was a fan of charged bolt before 1.10 just for the sheer hilarity of killing stuff with a level 1 spell. How does it compare to other spells with synergies in now though? Seems it only gets a bonus from lightning. Though, a decent bonus from lightning.|||I recently took a HC sorc (mostly) untwinked through norm and it was nearly as effective as the standard fireball build plus tons of fun.

I've also tried a CB/FO build with full Tal's and a better setup (Nightwings etc), although both times with an Infi merc and 3 or 4 skillers. It was fun and effective (with that gear killing was obviously not a problem), if a little limited due to how slow CB travels. With ful Tal's and a torch it's very do-able but obviously the same build with CL in it's place is going to be significantly more effective.|||I just make pure lighting with infinity merc and I do fine since infinity breaks most light immunes. The merc can kill light immunes due to its decent physical damage.
