So is the ranged penalty working as it says, or is my LCS accurate?
Is there something in the way FM is applied that is different for ranged or melee?
Does FM apply to non enchant damage, like charms or other +fire damage?
Thanks for the help

- When you use a spell/aura of the specific type.
- When you inflict damage in melee of the specific type.
That said I dunno what you're talking about when you're mentioning a 1/3 ranged penalty. Enchant works 100% on ranged afaik, it's just that it may work at 300% in melee if you've got 300% from mastery ...|||So if I understand right, FM is only aplied the second time upon a melee strike and not a arrow, bolt, javelin or thrown axe strike?
And here is what the AS says about Enchant:
Effect: Temporarily adds Fire damage to a weapon.
Enchant can be cast on other party members, Minions and Hirelings. Once active, you can switch between weapons and they will all have additional fire damage. Enchant will even work to improve Arrows, so cast it on Amazons.
Enchant works very well with Hirelings, especially Act II and Act V Hirelings. Find an Orb or Staff with +1-3 to Enchant and place it in your alternate Weapon Tab. Switch to that weapon, cast Enchant on your Hireling, then switch back to your main Weapon Tab. You can tell when Enchant has worn off by opening your Hireling Screen and noting the damage for the Hireling. If it's not red, Enchant has worn off. Using Enchant you can significantly increase the damage of your Hireling. You can place "real" points into Enchant or use + Skills/Skill Tab Items to further enhance Enchant on your Hireling.
Using Enchant on ranged weapons boosts the damage a variable amount.
Here is a screenie of the in game skill description, which shows the 1/3 I was talking about.
Thanks for the help!|||Quote:

Correct regarding arrows, dunnu about throwing to be honest. LCS lists the higher damage when I equip a javelin and select throw.

This is true.

This is true, except that relying on the color of the mercs damage isn't a 100% sure way to tell when enchant has worn off ... it can be red without enchant if you've got some fire damage ...

Wrong, at least if the character screen is to be trusted, and I see little reason why it would be wrong in this case. You get what the skill says, not less, not more.

Ah, I see, don't pay it any attention, the skill description is surely wrong.|||Well I did some further testing and the LCS always lists the same damage for enchant weather its a Bow, Crossbow, javelin, or melee weapon. so maybe it is all the dame for anything you use. Thanks again for the help.|||Kestegs: the LCS always shows the same damage, and its the damage you would do via MELEE attack. On the LCS, you are seeing [Your Enchant * Fire Mastery at time of casting] * [Current Fire Mastery at time of attack], and yes, its showing correct.
When ranged, however, you are doing less damage than shown.

MongoJerry's guide has a lot of great information in it.|||Thanks Kit!
Thats a great guide there, I think I FINALLY can wrap my brain fully around how Enchant works in all situations
