Dest-Key Hunter ?

Hello !

I was trying to catch some Destruction keys by killing Nithalak with my Blizz-sorc but that was quite impossible, to hard.

Do you got any good tip for a "Dest-Key-Hunter" ?

I dont even know if the best is to use a sorc so feel free to give me some advise to kill that bastard easy |||Pure lightsorc + Infi merc works for everything including Nihaltak. Tele on him and nuke him to death. If you have troubles then use Nature's peace ring.|||Pure Blizzard sorceress. His minions around him are cold immune= no CE from Nihla. Full Tal Rasha set will be enough. Nature's Peace is optional.

Lightning is better if you have a spare Infinity, but Blizzard works well, because with cold you can 1-hit kill the Tomb Vipers.|||I prefer a lightning trap assassin with Enigma. Cloak of Shadows controls the dangerous vipers and keeps enemies in place and death sentry will explode all of the corpses around Nihlathak as well as deny him ammunition for his own CE.|||I really dont get the trouble everyone is having with nith. I use a blizzballer and no nature peace ring. I let merc engage and then fire off fireballs to kill as many minons as i can while i watch the merc health. Then i tp cross the room and fire blizz on top of nith and spam fireballs and he goes down very quickly.

Another tact you can do is tp directly to the back of his room (however you need to do a "scout" run first to see if there is any vipers/archers there). If the room is "viper/archer" free i just bliz away and move, bliz and move, and hes dead in no time. If the key drop i clear the room and pick up the key.

Its mabye "hard" in the beginning with NP but it is certainly doable with some practice.

..and that you need infi and lightning sorc to kill him is just bs..

A trap assassin is also very nice as Pcguy said.|||People say light sorcs are best because they're the fastest at what they do. As long as you have infinity/fort merc, there's not many chars who can do things faster. The only time you'll have a major issue with Nihl is if he spawns light immune. Infinity wont break his immunity then and you'll need natures peace to make sure his corpse explosions don't kill you|||Yes of course, but you do realise that the majority of the people out there dont have access to the top notch gear and infinity right? You dont need it to kill him, not at all. With a NP its just like killing another mini boss in the game. Without it you need to be abit more carefull but still its just another mini boss.

When the original poster asks for help on how to kill niathlak and what he should do a answer should not be "use infinity-lighting sorc" they are the best..|||I use pure light / energy shield sorc for nihl runs. This can be done without infinity or any expensive gear at all except nature's peace ring

(P.S: my first pul from hellforge this ladder was used to buy a nature's peace ring on BNET, then i started nihl runs immediately. you do not need to be geared to do nihl)

basic build:

20 points charged bolt

20 points lightning

20 points chain lightning

20 points lightning mastery

20 points telekinesis (this makes Energy shield more efficient)

1 point static field

1 point energy shield

1 point warmth

etc.

stats if you don't have a CTA:

~50 str after gear (don't need any heavy stuff).

enough dext for maxblock. This is unnecessary if you have a CTA (maxblock + ES + CTA = overkill on survivability. you only need 2 out of 3. ).

most of the rest vita

a little bit in energy. you want roughly equal life and mana (with life slightly higher to avoid that stupid blood mana curse).

Stats if you do have a CTA:

156 str after gear for spirit monarch

zero dext

mostly vita

~100 energy more or less. you want roughly equal life and mana.

for starter gear:

if your gear sucks, you'll want a spirit sword, one nature's peace ring, and some kind of high blocking shield (rhyme runeword out of a drognan-shopped bone shield if you can't get anything better). the rest of the gear isn't too particular, just try to get +lightning skills, at least 63 fcr overall and as much +life and +mana gear as possible. Don't worry about maxing your resists--you'll be fine even with negative resists.

as for merc: i didn't bother with one till i got infinity, he just dies too much and he can get me killed via corpse explosion or tomb viper glitch. (FYI: the tomb viper physical damage glitch only happens when you have a merc. If you don't have a merc the tomb viper's poison sprays only do poison damage and can be safely ignored.)

for better gear:

infinity merc and CTA of course. You can usually one shot nihl with an infinity.

You'll want a griffons for the -ELR. If nihl is light immune, the immunity can be removed but he'll be at really high light res, so it takes too long to kill him without griffons bringing him down further. the rest of your gear doesn't really matter. I'm actually running around in 1500% gold find gear now. (6x lem phase blade, wealth armor, chancies, dwarf stars, etc. )

...

also there are lots of sorcs that can do nihl easily, this isn't the only one, just what i recommend... but definately go fire or lightning, or some kind of hybrid, don't go pure cold... yes you can kill him on a blizz sorc when he isn't cold immune but how are you supposed to pick up the keys with 20 cold immune mobs surrounding him? ... any answer to that question would take longer than just blasting everything with lightning.
