What if occy didnt have teleport??

[:1]Just imagine if occy didn't have teleport. And casted like frozen/shivering/chilling armor. No more random deaths and I think it would hands down be the best sorc 1 hander in the game.

I made this thread because I got hit on a teleport and it send me into a group of archers so pretty much instant death.|||ocu is just a mediocre orb, random tele or not. hoto and df are better, and so are certain rare orbs. what ocu really lacks is +to individual skills. then fire sorcs would finally have a toy to call their own.|||Well Eschuta's would still beat occy for light and fire sorcs...|||For PvM, Occy's res, MF and stats is a lot more useful than the small boost to damage on Eschuta's.

Occy gets much too much hate. If it didn't have the ctc tele it would definitely be up there with HotO. "The best" would depend on the circumstances though.|||Quote:

The thing with occy is that everything on it is good, but not outstanding.

People use certain items for certain purpose. You can't see one property stand out from occy.

If you want to max dmg, occy definitely is not the one you want to use. If you want to mf, 50 MF is actually quite small to make a difference when you already have around 300 MF.|||Personally, I have to say that Occulus is the best "all around" one hander for a sorc, if you really don't want to switch out your weapon all the time, you really can just go with that. I mean really a comparison is:

Occy: 3 sorc skills, all res 20, 30 fcr, 50 mf, 20 vit/energy

Eschuta: 1-3 sorc skills, 10-20 light/fire dmg, 40 fcr, 20-30 energy

Hoto: 3 skills, all res 30-40, 40 fcr, 10 dex

In my personal use of occy too, it has saved me more times than its killed me, but maybe I'm just lucky.

The only one I can see outweighing any of them is death's fathom because the extra cold damage is amazing since cold mastery pierces resistance instead of boost's damage. The 20% from eschuta's I feel gets lost with the mastery bonus for fire and light purposes.|||Quote:

eschuta is not that great tbh. the +% dmg is the same thing as the respective mastery which means the dmg increase is small. around 900 maxdmg on a fully tweaked lighter.

ocu would be stellar if it had +to individual skills. imagine ocu with +3 to fireball. you'd have full bnet of fire sorcs searching for this icecream.|||Quote:

It would be the best mf sorc weapon then but I would choose tals orb over occy for partial tals mfer.|||Quote:

My understanding has always been that Eschuta's is bugged in some manner, where its bonuses are applied concurrently with fire/lightning mastery. E.g. the 20% is the same as a couple points in either skill. Not worth it. I view it as probably the worst of the sorc orbs and caster weapons in general.|||^it's not a bug. it's just how it works. fire/light spells have lower base dmg, but it increases rapidly with the mastery. whereas cold spells start with much greater initial dmg, so every % boost is rather significant. eschuta would be nicer if it had a greater boost. still a decent orb to use, particularly if you can get max res from other equips.
