What I want to know is what is optimal setup for:
PvM(like running Countess or other keys)
Magic Find(pretty sure Tals rules here)
Baal runs/rushing
And compare these setups all with each other and survivability of each. How much damage does everyone do? What merc setup does everyone use?|||Here's what I use for running keys/for runes on my new Ladder sorc: in () is what is Ideal gear, in my opinion.
Helm: Shako (Griffon's Eye, Um'd or 5/5 Light facet'd)
Armor: Up'd Vipermagi (Um'd)
Weapon: 'Heart of the Oak'
Shield: 'Spirit' Monarch
Boots: Aldur's Advance (Nice rare tri-resist boots are better)
Belt: Arachnid Mesh
Gloves: Magefist
Amulet: Mara's (+2 Sorc, 20 FCR, Resist all, if going for 200% FCR)
Rings: Random Rares with minimal resist all (SoJ x2 or 10% FCR, Resist all rings if going for 200% FCR)
I haven't found any skillers yet, but those can be helpful too.
My merc is using Infinity, Aldur's plate, and Guillames face.
Ideally you'll want a merc with 'Infinity', 'Fortitude', and Andariel's Visage. Since I dont have Infinity yet (to take care of light immunes) My sorc is Lightning/Frozen orb. She does decent damage with both and has maxed resists in Hell. For rushing and key running, I would try to hit the 200% FCR teleport Breakpoint (Listed gear)With skillers and the gear I listed (in parethesis) you can get 30k+ damage and 'Infinity' will break nearly every lightning immune.
I've never used a lightning sorceress for Magic finding, but swapping out the gear for full Tal Rasha's, Ist'd and Ptoaz'd where appropriate, shouldn't prove an issue. The 9k damage I do now without 'Infinity', skillers, -res is working fine for me

maras
3/20 light eschutas 5/5 light facet
coh (choose light armor and pick good style)
32% fcr spirit monarch
double upped bloodfist if on ladder
arach
x2 bk's or x2 soj's or soj/bk
aldurs advance
merc gear:
eth infinity ca or cv
bugged fort
andy's ral
That is an up to date light sorc. 117% fcr for light/cl should be good enough to pvm with.|||Thanks for the input minuses. I have another question though:
How does Crescent Moon runeword measure up to HotO/Eschuta's for us not-so-rich folk? Example: Right now I'm running this setup:
Eschutas(40 fcr), Spirit(29 fcr), Arach(20 fcr), 2 mana rings, Vipermagi(30 fcr), Shako, War Travs, Tal's Ammy, Frostburns, Sorc Torch.
Would I be better off investing in a Crescent Moon? I can swap out my ammy for a +2/20 fcr ammy that I have when I level up, and Magefists for the Frosties, to make sure I keep the 117 FCR. I'm thinking Crescent Moon is actually the better option for me.
Is there a skill/resistance calculator somewhere? My searches were fruitless.|||If you've got a 2/20 already then I'd definitely go for the Crescent Moon, with no other source of -res it should definitely make for more damage on average than the +3 from Eschutas.
There's no such calc but people have done manual calculations. If you search around on this site you'll see many people think that Crescent is the ultimate light sorc weap. For some builds the trade-offs are debatable but on yours I think Crescent is a no-brainer.|||Quote:

Yep, I've already tried this build for pvm and it kills everything almost instantly, even lightning immunes (Infy). Now I want to try a small( but expensive) variation:
15/20 griffs 5/5 lightfacet (imo only the -res matters)
3 light 10% fcr amu
3/20 light eschutas 5/5 light facet (again, -res is important)
coh
20/20 light monarch
magefist
arach
1 soj
rare 10% fcr res @ str mana ring
3 res boots
So you get 125% fcr (117% BP), you lose +2skills from the spirit and +1 skill from one ring, but you get additional -20 light res. Your total -light res would be -50% from gear, not including infy. This will matter on monsters which were lightning immune prior to infy, cause they will still have very high resists.
So with this build you should be able to wipe out everything incl. lightning immunes in 8 player games -> great for hr hunting.
Or is the 20/20 shield just a waste of resources?|||ull loose 2 skills from spirit and 1 from the ring, so why not try crescent moon and keep the spirit shield instead? with that ud keep the 90-112 mana,35 cr+lr+pr and ud also have ~15 magic absorb. so the question is: is the -15% lr more on crescent moon + mentioned adds from spirit shield worth the trade off against the one skill and up to 45% added to light mastery?|||Ye, a bit expensive considering what you get for it. I'd rather go Crescent/Spirit since you get -10% ELR, 22 vit, 100 mana, 55 fhr, 35 C/L/P resist versus 1 skill and +45% dmg at best.
Double upped bloodfists rather than chancies or frostburns seems strange...|||I think the bloodfists with spirit hits the next fhr setpoint.
Just made a Crescent Moon runeword and my Shenk runs are now like 4 CLs max. Two for Eldritch, two for Shenk. Crescent Moon beats the tar out of Eschutas.
Can't wait til I get sojs anni and light gcs...|||Quote:

Yes but you need x1 5 fhr sc to hit the 86% fhr bp.
