help with my light sorc build please

This sorc was made with pvm in mind, I don't duel, mf, etc.

I'm having some trouble with immunes, souls, running out of mana, and I've been dying a lot too. I do enough damage but that's about it.

Here's my gear:

griffon with light facet 16/22

2 sorc skill, 10fcr, 18rez, 50 psn length reduced ammy

coh on archon plate (gonna get a dusk shroud when I can)

crescent moon on phase blade (gonna get crystal sword too)

spirit shield on monarch (is this the best shield for it?)

arachs

2 sojs

magefist gloves

treks

Inv:

6 light gcs

sorc torch//anni

Merc has been dying a lot too, heres what hes using

infinity

eth vamp gaze with empty socket? dont know what to use

eth fortitude

Skills:

max lm

max lightning

max chain lightning

max charged bolt

15pts into nova

1 into statis

1 into teleport/telekinesis

1 into warmth

nothing into that cold shield one, wonder if I should use it?

Stats:

str: enough for coh

dex: enough for crescent

rest into vitality

Anyway, hope that was enough information. any help will be greatly appreciated|||That's a pretty nice setup of gear you've got there, there' not much to add/change. That is assuming you have good resists. I don't generally find melee attackers a problem for a sorc, as I just tele away if things get too close. Souls will be problematic for light sorc's no matter what, but with your gear you should be able to still kill them ok. Spirit is a nice shield, but the str req is a lot, so it may be nice to have more life. A CTA on switch will help you immensely of course (based on your gear you probably already have one, but didn't mention it)

Like I said, not much gear improvement, if souls are your main problem then you may try to fit a Tgods belt or wisp projector in your gear. After that you may just need to hone your skills in an easier area.|||phase blade crescent moon? uh phase blades = 136 dext and you're using a spirit monarch so forget block. That's a lot of wasted stat points in dext.

P.S. you can shop 3 soc broad swords/long swords from farah in act 2 norm. use that for your crescent moon base.

another thing why would you switch to a dusk for COH? your spirit monarch is already your heaviest item so archon is fine.

Do you have a CTA on switch? i'm guessing you don't because you shouldn't be dying much with that setup especially not your merc. get one asap.|||Quote:

Thanks for the response. I never really liked sorceress at all but found that Griffons while doing a Baal run and decided to make a lite sorc. Perhaps I just don't know how to play with it since I've never had one? I can live with running out of mana, etc, but immunes are still a big problem. I was under the impression that with an Infinity and with my gear, I'd be able to take them down? The only way to do damage to them is through my merc, but he doesn't do much damage so it takes a good minutes for my merc to kill one light immune...

Also, regarding my skills, is there something I'm missing there? I'm pretty closing to maxing out nova so I don't know what to use after that.

Thanks again.|||phase blade crescent moon? uh phase blades = 136 dext and you're using a spirit monarch so forget block. That's a lot of wasted stat points in dext.

I'm gonna get a crystal sword crescent moon so I'll reset after that. As far as the spirit, is there a better shield to use for this sorc? One that doesn't use as much str?

And no, I actually don't have a CTA, don't have the runes for it and I'm kinda broke hah.

but I'll get one as soon as I can.|||Would just like to add that I no longer have a problem killing immunes or anything for that matter. I put an insight in just to test it out and then switched back to the Infinity and this green aura that wasnt there before is now there making me an unstoppable killing machine, and this is without a cta. I still need to learn to dodge attacks better though, cause this sorc cannot take a lot of damage. Also, I'm still running out of mana quite often so I gotta figure that out.

One more thing, Should I be using lightning or chain lightning primarily?|||Quote:

LOL, classic.

And lightning.

If you're really suffering with Mana, you can change some of your gear. But it's pretty perfect, and any swap would cause a massive change to maintain FCR BP.|||Quote:

Wow, I thought it was weird you couldn't kill gloams.

Lightning is more powerful, but CL is more hits often times, so it depends.

If your Merc dies you usually need to pull his weapon off and re-equip it. Just make sure you see the green aura.|||The build is very cookie cutter and should be able to be mastered easily. Here is the best way to build a 117% fcr light sorc:

15/20 griffs 5/5 light facet

3/20 light eschutas 5/5 light facet

coh any light armor style you prefer

spirit monarch 32+ fcr

maras

arach

x2 bk's

aldurs advance boots

double upped bloods or one up if nl

stats:

str-enough for gear

vita-all the rest

skills:

20 light

20 light mastery

20 cl

20 charged bolts

rest nova

1 frozen armor

1 warmth

1 teleport

no es or tstorm (trust me)

You already hit 117 fcr without mages so mages are pointless on a pvm light sorc. Also why treks? 15/15 treks provide 60 life that does not increase by bo and oak sage. Aldurs advance provides 40-50 fire resist and 50 life that increases by bo and oak sage so aldurs boots are the way to go. Really you should have enough mana without soj's to be honest.|||No, there aren't any 4 sock shields lighter weight than a monarch except pally only shields. Spirit monarch is it.
