Blizz Sorc Advise Wanted please

[:1]Hi guys right now my main toon is my 92 Blizzard sorc and she is currently a MF blizz and my goal is to make the transition from MF to straight up overkill, all damage. I have already started making minor changes.

Here is what i have been doing..

**I have been picking up alot of +1cold skillers GC's, and some 5/5 death cold facets. Though i have begun making minor changes I need help making the larger changes, such as gear choices**

I am looking for gear that will out perform tals significantly

At the moment i do not have an offset such as CTA, and My merc doesnt have infinity yet, but i could probably go get a rand infinity in i needed to, but right now i wanna work on my toon more than my merc. Even though they go hand in hand...

Ok so this is my current setup guys

Tals Belt 20mf

Lidless Wall [Pdiamond for resistance] Was thinking of getting new lidless and putting in 5/5 cold facet, or maybe a jewlers monarch??

I found this headpiece, idk how many sockets it can have but if a few i can see it being useful, i will let you guys be the judge.

Thanks Guys I Really Appreciate The Advise!|||For top of the line damage with a blizz sorc, your going to want something like this setup:

Helm: Nightwings (extra cold dmg, 2 skills)

Armor: Ormus (15% Cold, 3 Blizzard) w/ facet, or a COH for +2 skills

Belt: Snowclash (Extra skills to blizz, glacial spike)

Rings: SOJ's

Ammy: 2 skiller or 3 cold skill, maybe with fcr, maras works well for res, tals works as well

Weapon: Deaths Fathom (extra cold dmg%)

Shield: Ideally a 4 soc with facets, but usually costly, spirit works well, lidless otherwise

Gloves: you choose as they can't improve skill damage. Magefist for FCR, Frosties for Mana boost.

Boots : again you choose, Treks for FHR, vitality etc, silks for mana, travs for "some" mf, Rares with res also good.

Fill inventory with cold skillers/torch/anni etc. Obviously you dont have to have all these things, but most of the gear has a boost to cold skill damage, and since mastery pierces the resistances thats really what you need to top out the damage.|||Quote:

thank you very much for the input sir! also, with that setup that you just mentioned, is infinity still desirable?|||I usually find this thread very helpful when trying to understand immunities and how to break them: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=658719

The problem with cold immunes is that inheriently cold immune monsters (e.g. zombies in hell mode) usually have an immunity amount of over 150%, Infinity can work to break immunities as it provides a level 12 aura which is 85% res reduction, But when working on an immune monster it works at 1/5 effectiveness so it will only reduce the cold immunity by 17%. The reason lightning sorcs use infinity so much is because light immune monsters usually only have a 110% immunity amount so almost all of them are broken (except for champions/uniques etc. that have light enchant etc.)

Overall for a cold sorc, I would say the price of one is not worth the investment as cold immune monsters are going to continue to be immune and the ones that aren't cold immune will be destoryed by a high level of cold mastery. None the less if you have an abundance of currency you can get one becuase it has excellent damage as a merc weap, but an insight would work just as well.|||Thank you very much! I found that thread extremely helpful|||you shouldnt use infinity.

with proper cold mastery you enemies should have -100 cold res anyway.

my blizz sorc have basicly the setup pyro said in most areas (rare rings for and lidless to save on str).

she have insane damage but is kinda limited in pvm as to what areas to run.

Give your merc a reapers toll and more areas open up as he then can kill the cold and phys immune mobs you run into.|||I guess I should probably mention something about fcr as well, I took this from the breakpoints sticky:

Faster Cast Rate

FCR % FPC

0 13

9 12

20 11

37 10

63 9

105 8

200 7

You should hit the 63% fcr at minimum to be effective. You get 20% from magefist, 20% from death's fathom, and 20% from lidless. This all depends on your gear choice really, if you use spirit shield thats 25%-35% so you'll hit the 9 frame breakpoint even with a bad roll. You could potentially reach the 105 breakpoint but you would need to switch your soj's for fcr rings, have 10% fcr on your ammy, and a perfect roll spirit.|||I think there are two ways to go about it: pure offensive or balanced. I prefer the balanced approach.

Here is my Cold Sorc:

Death's Fathom (5/5 Facet)

Nightwing's Veil (5/5 Facet)

Chains of Honour Dusk Shroud

Spirit Monarch

Arachnid's Mesh

Trang Oul's Claws

Rare Boots (with Fire/Cold/Poison Res)

Magic Amulet (+3 Cold Skills, 10% FCR)

BK Ring x2 (I prefer BKs over SOJs because I have an Insight on my Merc)

Skills (110 total):

20 to Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, Glacial Spike, Blizzard and Frozen Orb (doing Orb last)

5 to Cold Mastery

1 to Static, Teleport, Warmth and pre-req's

This setup gives 105% FCR, 55% FHR (60% is the next break point) and 75% Resist All, and up to 55% extra Cold damage with -10% Cold resistance. You also have enough +Cold Skills (with the help of a few GCs) to reduce enemy Cold resistance by about 170% which is enough to put just about every non-cold immune to -100% (Blizzard could be doing +25,000 damage per hit while Ice Blast around 17,000 damage at -100% resistance, depending on how many GCs you have).

If you want to go pure offensive, switch the COH with an Ormus' Robe, Arachnid's with Snowclash and the Spirit for a +20/-20 Monarch. You'll do ridiculous damage but your survivability will suffer.|||Nice ZealotBoy!|||Quote:

ty zealot! yeah i was trying the pure offense and it was harder to survive so i invested in a 5bo cta and it helped a ton
