I've just started building a double dream sorc and was wondering what people's suggestions are for a switch (altenative to passion sword + dream shield).
I've seem the following suggestions:
memory staff (but should I depend so much on a switch)?
widowmaker
demon machine
CTA + Spirit (but v high str req)
CTA + Phoenix (but v high str req)
Demonlimb
I have no real experience with this build yet so I'm looking for recommendations.
I'm also not totally committed to enchant so I guess I could change the build to give me some more options too?
All feedback gratefully received!
Cheers
Pif|||Each of them have their reasons for the above listed suggestions:
The memory staff allows the possibility of reaching a level 40 Energy shield (95% absorption to mana) without the max number of hard points invested in the skills. This is perfect if you are building an Energy shield enchantress as you don't have a lot of room to play around with in terms of skill points since you will need 20 hard points in telekenisis.
Widowmaker is suggested only because of its guided arrow ability, which allows any non amazon to effectively use a bow and always hit from a distance.
Demon machine is suggested because of its high rate of fire combined with piercing (66%) and explosive bolts, the explosive bolts will carry your enchant damage and can hit multiple targets with piercing causing damage to multiple enemies. If you use this it is suggested to use razor tail belt to max the piercing ability.
CTA is always suggested because of the boost to life and mana (for Energy shield), always useful no matter who you are, and since your a melee sorc, you will probably take a lot of hits without max block so of course more is better.
Phoenix is suggested mainly for its redemption aura, making it a wonderful switch option when you need more life/mana and you need it fast, there is almost no need for pots with this option). -fire res is also helpful if you run into the occasional light immunes but your merc would probably take care of it first anyway so why bother.
Spirit is suggested to get that additional +1 skill, if you want to get a higher prebuff then this is the optimal choice, if you rather not sacrifice life/mana for strength then just use a lidless.
Demonlimb is what I call enchantress on a budget. Essentially this allows you to max everything else EXCEPT enchant. Once again perfect for the energy shield build due to its intensive skill point investment. The enchant will synergize with your warmth and fire mastery so that is not the issue, but it will be limited to lvl 23 which may make your attack rating suffer (most of your damage is lightning anyway, so assuming a lvl 23 enchant versus a possible lvl 35 and up enchant is the difference, and the fire damage is neglible to the lightning numbers).
The thing with enchantresses is there are so many possible prebuffs that it makes me sick. If you were a bear sorc it would be even worse. Either way it would go something like this if you have it all...
Use CTA (only one that really goes first for the +1 skills,
equip and use demon limb,
equip and use memory staff,
equip widowmaker/demon machine for backup
switch to main Passion/Dream
That would allow for the max amount of pretty much everything but would take a lot of time. If your not concerned about the bows then you can choose one to keep on switch. CTA buffs will run out before anything else, but if you take massive hits you'll need to redo your energy shield which is an annoyance.
Also if your worried about the strength requirement for the monarchs too much, you could always use an enigma, instead of what I assume your going to use being the COH, as most builds do. This would give you the max strength bonus but sacrifices resistances, if you can make these up in charms/gear then your set unless you like to stack resistance for the occasional conviction run in.|||Thanks. Lots of useful comments and it sounds like you've played the build a lot too Pyrotechnician.
I understand the reasons for the suggested switches but what I'm really after is hearing from people's actual experiences. I don't like pre-buffing generally so I don't want to have all of the options in my stash. It would work great but it would be a bit of a drag imho.

I'm veering towards phoenix + demonlimb. It sounds like a safe option and will free up some points to give me an alternative elemental attack. Still not sure though!
Cheers
Pif|||From personal experience, I havent actually done a "zealer" sorc, but I have made a standard bear sorc and you can see from one of my other recent posts that I'm trying to add a little variety to the build because it starts to become too standard even though its an outrageous build in the first place. In actual use with my bear sorc though I have to keep at least one weapon in inventory to fully utilize the build so I have the following:
Weapon 1:
Shael'd phase blade/Dream Shield
Weapon 2:
CTA/Lidless
(switch in and out beast to transform)
All of the prebuff takes too much time, and unless your running almost all the bosses its not worth it, especially if your in a public game because by the time your done buffing, half of the baal/chaos run is done.
In my other post I'm looking into swapping the sheal'd phase blade and dream for a doom and phoenix shield. Its slower but it makes it different then the standard dual dream setup that everyone has.|||Pif, I'm sorry, but this is not "Dream Sorc". This is "my wife". She change clothes all the time. I think she needs mirror in stash

There is no better option thaen dream, enchant, passion and switch CTA + spirit. Other option can be done for fun, and can be interesting, but not better. Anyway if you are bored with most built... did you consider max FM and HoJ + Dragon? Additional fire to your damage.|||Quote:

Damn - you found me out!
I've ended up with CTA + Phoenix shield and it's working out a treat!
Spookily enough I've started another char (I'm addicted to building and keeping characters!) who will be similar but wearing Dragon and swinging wildly with HoJ in a phase blade. I'm thinking of giving her a FAITH merc (I need to check if the extra attack speed will be worth it) and also plan on doing a lot of running away as I don't think she'll be that powerful without infinity!
Then again I might go for an enchantress ranged build with dream helm, dragon armour and Demon Machine or brand. If I go for her I might drop TK and energy shield and sneak in a ranged attack spell like Frozen orb or firewall. Oh I can't decide... I really like dream sorcs now though!
Thanks for the advice guys
Cheers
Pif
