I have tried a lot of light sorc builds here in this forum, but nothing were as FUN, FAST and EFFECTIVE as the 200 FCR light sorc I am about to show you.
I am not one of those guys who read a little about the different builds and then make there own. hrmm maybe I was too, but not anymore. How do I know that this build is working? I just spent around 150 dollars buying the things it needed, so i have tested it.
ES or VITA?
I doesnt really matter, but VITA is more effective when baal running. I did make both of them on 2 different chars. The problem with the ES build is the loss of MANA when you maybe are rushing/boosting another person, in ANYA quest for example. Then you are cooked. Vita is much better there.
I thought ES maybe was a bit more easy in PVP compared to the VITA build.
but in my opinion if you get hit you should be dead, only the good people can avoid being hit. Another bad thing with ES is all prebuffing wich is needed before fighting. If you use memory in stash you have to change it all the time...
My personal favorite is VITA. (not complicated)
Skills
Lightning Skills
20 Lightning
20 Chain Lightning
20 Charged Bolt
20 Lightning Mastery
1-20 Nova
1 Telekinesis
1 Teleport
1 Energy Shield (optional, if going ES you should put 1 in it. Nothing here for VITA)
1 Static Field
1 Thunderstorm
Fire Skills
1 Warmth
Cold Skills
1 Frozen Armor (optional)
Equipment
Helmet
Griffons Eye -20% enemy light res, 15% light skill damage. Socked with a -5%/5% Lightning Facet.
Weapon
Hoto (Heart of he Oak) with 40 all res. also good for your mana reg and life. For the ES build you can use Wizardspike, many people does that. The bad thing with it is the lost of damage.
I like damage and the VITA build, so I use HOTO.

Second Weapon
Call to Arms 6 to battle orders. CTA is a must for both VITA and ES sorc!
Shield
Spirit Monarch with 35% FCR (Faster Cast Rate). ( There is really no other option here.)
Second Shield
Spirit Monarch dont bother about the FCR, you can use any spirit here.
Armor
VIPER (Skin of Vipermagi) with 35 res and 12 DR. SOCKED with 5/-5 light FACET DIE. In my build this is the ONLY option, but you can use Fortitude as well with another FCR ring.
Gloves
Magefist 30 ED. (Magefist is the good because of the 25% mana regeneration and the 20 FCR. Even the +1 to Fire skills will benefit your warmth stat.)
I like to upgrade them for fun and they look cool too!!

Belt
Arachnid Mesh (the best belt for any caster no other option.)
Amulet
Crafted AMU with +2 to sorc skills 20 FCR and other nice adds. mine has mana reg and 90 to mana. res is good here but very expensive.
cheaper amu could be 1 to sorc skills and 20 FCR or only 10 FCR, but then you have to go with 2 FCR rings.
Rings
1x SOJ and 1x 10 FCR ring with 20 strenght or more and fire res is a must. if it has more adds like mana or vitality thats good too. but FIRE RES is very important since spirit doesnt give any fire res.
if you go for a cheaper amu with 10 FCR you will need 1 more FCR ring.
Boots
ETH Sandstorm Trek with 15 Strength and 15 Vitality. (we need the strength beacause of the high req of the Spirit.) I even bought some triple res boots, but they are not needed. the only thing you will need is a small charm with fire res and you are maxed.
Inventory
Annihilus make sure it has much to attributes as possible. The resistance should be over 15. Its of course better with higher resistance but it comes second to the attributes.
Hellfire Torch with as high attributes as possible the res should be over 15 here too.
7 Lightning skillers with life and some small charms with life and res.
get one light skiller with 12 FHR then you will get to the next breakpoint for sorcs.

You will have 200 FCR and 194 in Lightning FCR!

Merc
You should go for an ACT 2 Nightmare HOLY FREEZE merc.
Equipment
Armor: Perfect etheral Fortitude
Helm: Perfect etheral Andariels Visage socked with a 15 IAS (increased attack speed) 30% fire resistance JEWEL or simply a RAL rune to make up for the -30% fire resistance you will get using Andys.
Weapon: Infinity (this is probably the most important item of a lightning sorc, with its lvl 12 conviction aura that breaks the enemys immunities. It also has around -50% enemy light resistance
This is a build not a guide so I wont be telling you how to PVP and MF..
I hope you liked it.
Have a NICE day

you are not allowed to post links other then this site, its older versions and Arreat Summit site. it was in rules, i really suggest read them again.
regarding guide: didn't read thoughtfully to give good feedback.|||you mention putting a point in es if you plan on making an es build, but don't mention extra points in telekenesis, which must be maxed on any es build. regarding skills i'd personally max nova before chain-lightning. i find chain-lightning to be one of those skills that seems good in theory, but in practice it just isn't as effective as lightning. by the time it jumps between the different monsters you could have cast a few lightnings which just cuts straight through everything. nova has quite a different application, and i find compliments lightning better.
as for equipment. most of it is a given on this build in order reach the 200fcr breakpoint, however for the amulet you should mention using a +3light 10fcr. doing that you maintain the same +to lightning skills as a 2sorc/20fcr amu and SoJ, but you save yourself many high runes, or as in your case, *cough* dollar$$$ *cough*. and there a few more weapon options. eschutas is definitely worth mentioning, particularly for es build. and perhaps even suicide branch.
given the fast killing speed of the build, i don't see the need to go all out on an offensive merc either. it's not like they're going to be doing the killing. i just use tals mask and a g-bane on mine. g-bane is amazing for those tomb-vipers poison clouds on nihlathak runs. and he's still quite capable of killing the odd light immune that conviction doesn't break.|||Quote:

I agree with your with a +3 sorc 10 fcr amu as a cheaper option.
Eshutas is a good option for es instead of Hoto. but not as a VITA build. because of the lack of mana reg. the res will not be a problem as many people think. just use triple res boots and some godly small charms
i dont agree with your merc... if there is a super light immune monster, the merc has to do the killing.|||the merc thing is just a matter of preference i guess. with 40%crushing blow he can still kill those light immunes that i can't easily enough. i as run nihlathak quite often i find the pdr also very useful vs the tomb vipers. the other bonus is that he can survive making a hit with IM, which often just gives me that extra little time to rescue him.|||"I just spent around 150 dollars buying the things it needed, so i have tested it."
What? I don't like that|||Quote:

Pretty much. Also the -ELR on infinity only works for your mercenary's lightning damage when he's using it.
"It also has around -50% enemy light resistance"|||I still see nothing new in comparasion to the old guide, expect that you bought some gear on ebay, and - gave the pros/cons some meat........ I almost feel tempted to begin making a guide m'self, but I dont have any motivation or energy to do so. Only a boring interface. Oh welll.|||Quote:

Grind and find... It's a rush when Meph drops your first Arach of the Ladder...
Most build guides have multiple sugestions for each gear piece... The writer usually builds from level 1 and tries many gear arrangements while they fight through Norm, Nightmare, and Hell... They learn nuances about the character and what works because they spend time with it...
Build writers don't glitch rush a char to hell, uberlvl it to 90, and then claim to be competent to write a guide because they bought gear...|||what's your based stats?
